
Taco Salad with Spicy Cilantro Lime Dressing

A simple taco salad with a spicy kick, perfect for taco night.
One of my favorite ways to eat a taco salad are with flakey flour tortillas and crushed Doritos mixed in. Since switching to keto obviously I can’t have the tortilla shell, nor the Doritos, though I’ve been wanting to try Quest protein chips in nacho cheese flavor to see if they would provide a similar quality.
Since I can’t eat Doritos I went for a spicy seasoning to see if I could at least get a hint of the nacho cheese flavor. Topping the salad with a sprinkling of creole seasoning worked beautifully to achieve the flavor profile I wanted.
Taco Salad Ideas
You can use whatever lettuce you’d like for this salad, however my preference is to use romaine. It has a wonderful crunch, and gives more of a taco feel than spinach.
Also, feel free to use your favorite cheese. I’ve always been a cheddar cheese fan when it comes to taco salads, however I’ve recently started using queso fresco in some recipes so I might give it a try as well.

Ingredients
- 2 cups romaine lettuce chopped
- 1/4 pound taco meat
- 1/4 cup cheddar cheese shredded
- 2 tbsp spicy cilantro lime dressing
- 2 grape tomatoes quartered
- 1/2 avocado sliced
- 1 tbsp cilantro
- 1/4 tsp creole seasoning
Instructions

Brown hamburger and season with your favorite taco seasoning.

In a bowl add lettuce, then the taco meat. Top with remaining ingredients and dressing. Toss to combine.
